Worst! Miss Universe 2019

Miss Universe 2019 will be held in Atlanta, Georgia at the Tyler Perry Studios on the 8th of December. This will be the 68th edition and will see the return of Steve Harvey as host. So far, 92 contestants have been confirmed with 2 debuts, Bangladesh and Equatorial Guinea. The Mikimoto crown, last used by Catriona Gray, will be replaced with a new crown by luxury jeweler Mouawad. With anxious fans around the world waiting to see the coronation, one must wonder, will the quality be good? Will there be enough time for the contestants to engage in activities they usually would?

The arrival period is scheduled for November 28 and 29, with Registration and Fitting set for the 28th to 30th day of November. The Preliminary Competition is to take place on the 6th, two days to the coronation. Now, this must be the worst edition of Miss Universe. These contestants are given a little over a week to attune to their environment, bond with other girls, complete rehearsals, take on an interview. Not to mention, the National Costume Competition will be fitted into one of those days leading up to the 8. I believe this is too much for these contestants to handle in such a short period. I would have preferred a later Miss Universe Competition than a poorly funded and planned one.

The venue seems to be very inadequate to hold a very large crown, as we are used to. Tyler Perry Studios will be the location for the coronation. The room seems to be very narrow and easily gives the impression that the Miss Universe Organisation is on a very low budget. We can also expect to see a similar stage layout as Miss USA 2019.

These shortcomings of the Miss Universe Organisation only takes away from the high quality that is expected of this grand beauty pageant and dims the excitement of fans across the world.

Nonetheless, let us hope this staging will not be short of spectacular presentations from the contestants.
